The Master's Level Case Manager/Counselor is responsible for the coordination of the A&D treatment being provided on the units including individual and family counseling, and coordination with all key players involved in the planning for the adolescent. The position provides enhanced youth care, and collaboration with the Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Program Supervisor, and Youth Service Workers to ensure high quality of treatment for all clients in a residential setting. In addition, this position is responsible for providing and overseeing a range of residential assessments, treatment planning, support groups, individual and family therapy, skills training, and lectures for the educational purpose of the enhanced substance abuse program. This position will oversee the tracking and reporting of adolescent’s treatment progress and will provide appropriate staff leadership. The Case Manager/Counselor will provide professional case management for the adolescents on the unit, and will manage multiple priorities and program components. This position may be part of ratio during business hours as needed for youth/staff ratio compliance and in ratio for emergency/crisis situations as assigned by management.


Job Qualifications:

Master’s degree in behavioral science, license preferred. Knowledge and experience with adolescents with alcohol and drug issues, as well as dual diagnosis.


Essential Functions:

  • Will be familiar with and have an understanding of addiction that includes treatment knowledge, terms, and concepts that are related to the theory, etiology, research, and practice.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the continuum of care, the social context that affects the treatment, recovery process, and participate in weekly DCS and treatment team meetings.
  • Will provide individual counseling three times per week, family counseling one hour per week, and group therapy to adolescents as assigned. Case Manager/Counselor will coordinate and participate in Child and Family Team Meetings a minimum of three times throughout the 60 day treatment program with each adolescent that they are assigned.
  • Must have the ability to communicate oral and written information clearly.
  • Must communicate with Program Manager and Director of Clinical Services to convey pertinent A&D treatment issues or any concerns about the unit or adolescents on the unit.
  • Will complete assessments, treatment plans, contact notes, progress notes, monthly progress reports, discharge summaries, and supervise all treatment components for adolescents on the units. Masters level case manager/counselor will be responsible for adherence to the treatment model.
  • Will provide 24 hour on-call crisis intervention.
  • Will identify and educate staff about the influence that a client’s culture, lifestyle, gender, and any other relevant factors may have on behavior and treatment.
  • Will complete necessary documentation related to adolescents’ progress, plans for transition, engagement of family, and treatment goals within a timely manner, as outlined by the Quality Assurance and Records Manager.
  • Must understand and apply specific agency policies and procedures for handling crisis and / or dangerous situations, including safety measures for adolescents and staff.
  • Meet all Agency requirements for timely submission of HR documentation and participation in mandatory training.
  • Will conduct case management activities for assigned adolescents including, but not limited to, monitoring unit and assisting Program Manager in effective communication with other professionals involved in adolescent’s supervision and /or treatment.
  • Provide day-to-day case management and assist with coordination of program staff.
  • Develop professional partnerships with other agencies, DCS, staff and any other outside
  • Partners in order to coordinate aftercare services and facilitate follow up phone calls at 3,6, 12, and 18 months post discharge.
  • Conduct safety and security activities including random adolescent body searches, room and facility searches and inspections, supervision and collect of urine specimens, verification of adolescent location and activities in and outside the agency, and during emergency drills that are consistent with policy.
  • Provide transportation as required by the residential unit.
  • Will coordinate incentive programming in accordance with the therapeutic model.
  • Will perform other related duties as assigned or required for the success of the unit.
 

Qualifications (BFOQ):

Physical Requirements (BFOQ):

  • Able to perform keyboarding for extended periods
  • Possess average to above visual and auditory capabilities in the supervision of adolescents
  • Be physically capable of meeting TCI (restraint) training and application requirements
  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Able to squat, bend, stoop, jump and/or climb steps/stairs as necessary without risk of injury
  • Able to walk and/or run a quarter mile continuously
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Work extended hours as needed (>40 per week
