Job Summary:
The Accounting Intern would assist with various accounting and quality assurance functions of the Finance Department including, but not limited to: client records management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory and general accounting duties.
Essential Functions:
- Audit, prepare, request and maintain client information in our electronic client chart system.
- Work under the supervision of other finance department employees.
- Assist with recording receivable and payable transactions in our accounting system.
- Study the fiscal and agency policies of the agency and abide by them.
- Assist with tracking information to be reported for grants received by the agency.
- Assist with various month end processes involved in closing a month and issuing monthly financial statements.
- Help in the development of additional chart tracking processes, so the agency can comply with requirements of funding and accrediting entities.
- Assists Vice President of Operations with various clerical and other functions
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to clients and financial information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing Associates or Bachelors Accounting, Business, or other related degree, preferred. High School diploma with some college in a related area, as a minimum requirement.
- Solid knowledge of office functions and procedures, including moderate proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Some work experience in the Accounting field preferable.
- Ability to independently follow up on and follow through with projects in a timely manner.
- Self-motivated, with a strong sense of organization and the ability to work independently.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities.
- Strong ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in sedentary position for extended periods
- Keen hearing and visual capabilities
- Good command of English language and general communications skills
- Ability to apply keyboarding skills for extended periods
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds
