Currently seeking PRN (as needed) Youth Residential Workers.  PRN's sign up to work shifts that are open due to vacancies or other staff taking days off of work. PRN's can sign up in advance for shifts, and they will also be contacted to fill shifts that are open with short notice, such as when someone calls in sick for their shift.

Job Summary:

The Youth Residential Worker is responsible for assisting in the coordination of  residential services, and providing professional treatment and care to adolescents.   The position provides quality youth care and close intensive supervision of adolescent clients in a residential setting.  In addition, this position is responsible for providing a range of residential support groups and skills training services to adolescents and families, tracking and reporting on adolescent’s treatment progress and providing peer leadership. This position will be part of ratio during business hours as needed for youth/staff ratio compliance and in ratio for emergency/crisis situations as assigned by management.

Essential Functions:

  1.        Knowledge of whereabouts and direct supervision of all adolescents, including daily room checks and documentation of adolescent’s presence on the tracking chart every
             15-20 minutes.

  2.       Assist staff in groups, lectures, and daily treatment in residential services.

  3.       Take appropriate action in handling crisis situations in accordance with agency policy / guidelines and rules; this will include the use of Handle with Care's therapeutic interventions. 

  4.       Oversee adolescents and make effort to see that agency policies / rules are enforced.

  5.       Be aware of each adolescent’s daily schedule; keep track of vital information and share with staff on the unit when necessary.

  6.       Value working in a multicultural and diverse environment.
 

Job Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED. 
  • Must be 21 or older due to age of client population and DCS requirements.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a children’s services program is preferred.  Volunteer experience and practicum and intern experience in programs/facilities that work with children and families may be counted as pertinent experience. 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to provide visual and auditory supervision of adolescents

Physically capable of meeting Handle with Care (restraint) requirements

(BFOQ:) No health conditions that would prevent participation in restraint requirements

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Able to walk and/or run, and/or climb steps as necessary

Ability to remain conscious and alert if/when scheduled to work late night/early morning hours
